Federal Skilled Trades (FST)

The FST is a prescribed class of applicants who may become a permanent resident on the basis of their ability to become economically established in Canada as workers in a skilled trade occupation listed in Skill Level B of the National Occupational Classification matrix:

(a) Major Group 72: Industrial, electrical and construction trades;

(b) Major Group 73: maintenance and equipment operation trades;

(c) Major Group 82: supervisors and technical occupations in natural resources, agricultural and related production;

(d) Major Group 92: Processing, manufacturing and utilities supervisors and central control operators;

(e) Minor Group 632: Chefs and Cooks; and

(f) Minor Group 633: Butchers and Bakers.

To be successful under this class the applicant must meet certain requirements such as language, work experience and education.
